Good morning Designers, Sorry that I can't make it today. Today you will be learning about our second type of chemical bonding: covalent bonding. As discussed last week, in this type of bonding, NONMETALS will SHARE their electrons to gain a full outer shell. They will NOT transfer, so there are no charges involved. If you are having trouble understanding covalent bonds, please reference the following video. You should only watch from 6:07 to 9:51, so it'll only take about 3 and a half minutes. Peace, Mr. Itow Good evening Designers,
If you would like some extra help with math, here are some helpful videos courtesy of Khan Academy: Multiplying Decimals: www.khanacademy.org/math/arithmetic/arith-decimals/arith-review-multiplying-decimals/v/more-involved-multiplying-decimals-example Long Division: Beginning with the following video, work your way through the rest of the playlist: www.khanacademy.org/math/arithmetic/arith-decimals/arith-review-dividing-decimals/v/dividing-decimals-completely Peace, Mr. Itow Good evening Designers, Attached is the syllabus for this year. Please be sure to read and sign the back page along with your parents. I will be collecting it on Monday/Tuesday. Best, Mr. Itow Hi all,
Below, you will find several Khan Academy video playlists to help you with your work this summer. Best of luck! On Monday and Tuesday, we will be taking the California Science Test. The test is given using a computer-aided format, which is new for most of you. To prepare for the test, please access the STUDENT practice at THIS LINK. Best of luck! Peace, Mr. Itow Good afternoon Designers, Just a reminder that we will be having our Unit 5 PhD this Wednesday & Thursday. As always, your Unit 5 Homework packet will also be due. In preparation, I will be having office hours after school on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and before school on Wednesday and Thursday. If you cannot make it, I highly recommend that you watch the Balancing Chemical Equations and Stoichiometry videos on Khan Academy. Attached are the Unit 5 Review Packet, the Answer Key to check your work, and the Unit 5 Homework packet in case you misplaced any pages of yours. As always, please let me know if you have any questions! Peace, Mr. Itow
Good afternoon Designers, Attached is the answer key for pages 4.15-4.19 of the Notes packet. This study guide is comprehensive. If you can successfully complete the study guide, you should be well prepared for the Unit 4 Exam next Monday/Tuesday. As always, the Unit 4 Homework packet is also due on the day of your exam. If you have any questions during the weekend, please email me. Best of luck! Best, Mr. Itow
Good morning Designers,
Please read this entire post before you begin your work. Today, you will be using Khan Academy in pairs to learn about balancing chemical equations. To begin, grab a laptop per pair from Ms. Chen and please watch the following video: Chemical Reactions Introduction Afterwards, using the navigation bar on the left, please watch "Balancing Chemical Equations" and "Visually Understanding Balancing Chemical Equations" Watched enough videos? Let's try some practice! Please go to "Balancing Chemical Equations Intuition" and "Balancing Chemical Equations I" and try them out. There are helpful hints throughout if you don't understand why an answer is correct. At this point, you should all have a decent understanding of balancing chemical equations. In your Notes pocket, on pages 4.6 and 4.7, you'll see an intro to MY method for balancing chemical equations. Although I'm unfortunately not here to explain it to you, I would like you to try out the practice IN PENCIL. We'll review when I get back. Lastly, your homework is pages 5 and 6 of your Homework packet. You've all been keeping up, RIGHT?? If you have any questions, please ask your peers first, and then shoot me an email. I can't guarantee when I'll be able to respond, but I'll do my best. Also, Ms. Parsons may stop by during class. She used to teach Chemistry, so feel free to ask her if you need some assistance. Keep making me proud! Best, Mr. Itow Good morning estudiantes!
Just a friendly reminder that you have the California Life Science Exam on Friday. You may be wondering why you are being tested on Life Science content when you've never actually taken Life Science at Da Vinci Design before. I'm wondering the same thing. But in all seriousness, the exam covers content you should have covered in middle school, so you ALL can certainly do well. But if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask me or another teacher. Click on this link to access the practice exam I passed out last week in case your copy was misplaced. Best, Mr. Itow |
