Good evening Designers,
Attached to this post is the handout I provided earlier this week regarding your PoLs. However, I also wanted to provide some additional information to clarify any concerns.
As previously stated, you will have 5-6 minutes to demonstrate your mastery of ONE unit that we have covered this semester among the following:
You will be presenting on EVERY essential skill we have covered within a unit. This translates to roughly one minute per essential skill. As long as you rehearse and are prepared, this should be plenty of time to explain the content. I do not mind which unit you choose to present on, although I would suggest that you choose the unit that you feel the least comfortable with.
I do not have any requirements regarding order or format of your slides. However, here are my recommendations:
Make sure that you are prepared for my Q & A session. I may ask you to further explain a concept, further explain your evidence, or complete a problem on the board. This will be factored into your PoL score. I would suggest looking over past homework, study guides, and exams for practice.
I apologize for my absence, but I hope this post will clarify any concerns you have regarding my PoL. If you have any other questions, please email me. As previously stated, I will provide you feedback on anything you send me (Powerpoint slides, notecards, scripts, etc.).
Have a great day,
Mr. Itow
Attached to this post is the handout I provided earlier this week regarding your PoLs. However, I also wanted to provide some additional information to clarify any concerns.
As previously stated, you will have 5-6 minutes to demonstrate your mastery of ONE unit that we have covered this semester among the following:
- Unit 1: Gases
- Unit 2.A: Atomic Structure & Nuclear Chemistry
- Unit 2.B: Periodic Table & Periodic Trends
- Unit 3: Chemical Bonding
You will be presenting on EVERY essential skill we have covered within a unit. This translates to roughly one minute per essential skill. As long as you rehearse and are prepared, this should be plenty of time to explain the content. I do not mind which unit you choose to present on, although I would suggest that you choose the unit that you feel the least comfortable with.
I do not have any requirements regarding order or format of your slides. However, here are my recommendations:
- Have roughly 1-2 slides per essential skill.
- One suggestion for slide format could be a title, a couple lines of text, and 1-2 examples (your evidence) that you would like to use to demonstrate your mastery.
- Make sure that you EXPLAIN BOTH the essential skills AND your examples. "This shows that I mastered the content because I received a '3.5'" is not sufficient demonstration of your mastery.
- You may choose to either explain the essential skill WITH your examples or explain the essential skill and THEN explain your examples afterwards.
- If you choose to explain your examples after you explain the essential skill, I would suggest using 20-30 seconds to explain the essential skill and 30-40 seconds to explain your evidence.
Have a great day,
Mr. Itow
